Welcome to the 2023 CFO-WFO Joint Convention Registration!

Convention registration includes your all field trips and workshops (a few may have special fees), the Welcome Picnic, evening socials, the Friday and Saturday scientific sessions, fun ID Quiz panels, and the vendor's hall throughout the convention. Field trip and workshop registration is first-come, first-served; some trips or workshops may fill before you register. All attendees to the banquet and keynote address by Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Jessie Barry must purchase a banquet ticket.

Waiver Statement:

Colorado Field Ornithologists (CFO) and Western Field Ornithologists (WFO) are offering field trips and other events during their joint convention held at Copper Mountain Resort, July 19-23, 2023.

As a participant of the Copper Mountain Convention, I will:

  • Abide by the CFO Code of Conduct

  • Comply with the directions of the event leads

As a participant in a 2023 Convention field trip, I will:

  • Stay with the group.

  • Notify the trip leader and the driver of the vehicle in which I am riding, if carpooling, of any plans to leave the group.

  • Make sure all carpool participants are in the vehicle when we leave any destination.

  • Not undertake any endeavor that would endanger my health, or the health of others, as I know it.

  • Observe all applicable rules of conduct, policy, regulation and law, whether on public or private lands.

  • Adhere to the American Birding Association Code of Birding Ethics.

Safety Terms and Conditions:

Staying Home when Appropriate

  • Attendees should stay home if they have tested positive for COVID or are showing symptoms of COVID

  • Monitor your health if you have had close contact with a person who had symptoms within the last 14 days

Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette

  • Frequent hand washing for 20 seconds to ensure safety

  • Cover face when coughing or sneezing

Masks

  • Wearing a mask during Convention events is not mandatory

  • Masks are meant to protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected and has no symptoms. Please be cognizant of the health and safety concerns of others with whom you are participating in a shared event.

Non-smoking policy: Smoking is not permitted at any time or any place during the 2023 Convention, including field trips.

 

Pet Policy: Some hotels allow cats and dogs in the hotel rooms. No pets are allowed during a Convention event, including field trips, workshops, receptions, challenges, banquet, and science sessions. Please keep your pet in your room unless walking outside the hotel during the conference.

 

Convention Refund Policy: CFO/WFO must receive written notification of registration cancellation on or by May 27 to receive a full refund. Deadlines for partial refunds for registration cancellation or modifications are June 17 (80% of total order) and July 15 (50% of total order).

Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release

I agree and acknowledge, as a registrant for the 2023 Convention and all associated events conducted or arranged by CFO or WFO in which I may participate, that participation is such events have the potential to include a variety of risks and dangers. Those dangers may include, but are not limited to: the hazards of vehicular and/or foot and/or other forms of travel; weather, temperature, high winds, flooding, and other forces of nature; and the possibility that an accident or illness could occur in remote places without access to immediate or timely medical treatment or facilities. With knowledge that these or other potential dangers may exist by virtue of my participation in a Convention event, I agree that I, not CFO or WFO, or anyone working for, with, or on behalf of CFO or WFO, am responsible for the well-being of myself and any minors who accompany me while participating in Convention events, including field trips, and for any financial or other costs arising from any injuries or illness to me or any minors who accompany me during any Convention event.

 

In consideration of being allowed to participate in the 2023 Copper Mountain Convention, such field trips and/or in other activities conducted by or arranged by CFO or WFO, I voluntarily waive, release, and hold harmless CFO and WFO, its agents, field trip leaders, officers, directors, third parties, and anyone else acting on behalf of CFO or WFO in connection with Convention events from any and all liability, actions, causes of actions, debts, claims, damages, costs, losses, disputes, and liens whatsoever on account of, or in any way arising out of personal injury, loss of life, loss or damage to property, illness, and any consequences thereof, directly or indirectly, resulting from, incidental to, in connection with, or arising out of my participation in Convention activities. The terms hereof shall serve as an assumption of risk, waiver, release, and indemnity for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, and for all members of my family or other persons under my supervision, including any minors accompanying me at the Convention.

 

I have read and accept the above Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release, which contains the entire and final agreement related to the subject matter hereof. The terms of this document are contractual and not mere recitals. This instrument shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Colorado.
